Hallenbeck Coin Gallery pays highly competitive prices for coins, paper money, precious metal bullion and scrap precious metals in jewelry and similar items. While others make similar claims, compare our buy prices to what they offer, and you’ll see why several hundred people choose to sell to us every week. This page provides more detail about the types of merchandise we do and do not buy.

Do not clean coins or paper money in any way. Cleaning never increases the value of collectibles. In fact, because collectors prefer coins and paper money with “original surfaces,” cleaning may reduce the value by 50% or more. Cleaning scrap metals (e.g. sterling silver flatware) does not affect the price you will receive and is therefore unnecessary.

How to Sell

We only purchase merchandise from sellers in person – do not mail your coins to us. Seller must be age 21 or older who have a valid, non-expired photo id issued by a governmental entity within the United States, i.e. a driver’s license, military id, passport or state-issued identification card.

Bring the merchandise to the store during normal business hours (it’s greatly appreciated if you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled closing time):

Mon-Fri: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

You do not need an appointment for small coin collection. If you have a large collection please call to discuss whether or not you need an appointment.

To better serve you and minimize wait times, please untangle, pre-screen and prepare scrap metal items as noted above. If you’re unsure whether or not an item is made of a precious metal, bring it to the store where we’ll be happy to examine it.

How Will I Be Paid?

For smaller amounts, you will be paid on the spot by cash, check or store merchandise, as you prefer. For larger purchases, we cannot pay the full amount by cash.
